PURPOSE:To improve the cycle characteristic of a battery so as to make the battery chemically stable even in use for a long period by using as a solid electrolyte an electrolyte represented by specific formulae when the battery comprises a positive electrode, a negative electrode made from metal lithium or its alloy, and the solid electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:A solid electrolyte battery D comprises a solid electrolyte 1, a positive electrode 2, a negative electrode 3 and a separator, and the electrolyte 1 is made to function as a separator. A current collector 4a is pressure bonded to the outer peripheral surface of the positive electrode 2 and a positive electrode can 6 is pressed into contact with the current collector 4a, and a current collector 4b is pressure bonded to the outer peripheral surface of the negative electrode 3 and a negative electrode cap 5 is pressed into contact with the current collector 4b and a fitting portion is sealed by an insulator 7. In this constitution, the solid electrolyte comprises a product of photopolymerization having a main or side chain as represented by the formulae, and an ion-dissociating metal salt; R1 and R2 are a lower alkylene group represented by CnH2n(n>=1), X is S, NH, NCH3, NC2H5 or NC3H7, and (a) and (b) are 1 to 10. The battery is thus permitted to exhibit its performance over a wide temperature range. |
