PURPOSE:To insert a character string without disturbing the thought of a writer by eliminating switching to an insertion mode and a button operation for the designation of an insertion position. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with a mode decision part 3 which judges whether or not another character or character string on the same line exists within a range of the X-coordinate of an outer frame set for an inputted character or character string, and decides an ordinary character input mode when no character or character string exists, and a character insertion mode when it exists, a clause puxctustion part 7 which punctuates a system of character code data obtained by a character recognition part 5 into plural clauses, and finds each X-coordinate between the clauses, an inter-clause X-coordinate storage part 8 which stores the X-coordinate found at the clause punctuation part 7, and a character string in-sertion processing part 9 which compares the center X-coordinate of the leading character of the character or character string to be inserted with the X-coordinate between the clauses stored in the inter-clause X-coordinate storage part 8 in the character insertion mode, and inserts the character string between the clauses paragraphed by the X-coordinate between the nearest clauses. |
