Appts. for individual anaesthesia of animals prior to slaughter consists of a stall (1) for retaining the animal at a fixed post associated with mobile electrodes (19) which apply a current, partic. to head. A trap door (8) allows evacuation of the live anaesthetised animal. Electrodes (19) are mounted on a mobile chassis (15) which is mechanically displaced, back and forth, horizontally, along the positioning axis of the animal. The chassis (15) has an insulated panel (18) between the electrodes (19) and stall with a central opening for the head of the animal. The panel (18) comes into contact with the shoulders of the animal. Electrodes (19) are located laterally at rear of panel and approach one another to secure around the head. USE/ADVANTAGE - Automatic anaesthesia of animals for slaughter. Remote controlled programmed operation initiated by operator (claimed). Reduced stress on animal. Allows bleeding of unconscious animal.
