METHOD AND CIRCUIT FOR ADAPTIVE SELECTION OF THREE-DIMENSIONAL SUBBAND IMAGE SIGNAL

PURPOSE: To select the prescribed number of sub-bands adjusted to the limit of transmission band width and to transmit them by accumulating selected band information in a look up table so that they are more close to the original picture than a bit map image. CONSTITUTION: When a digital video signal is inputted to a QMF bank 10, it is separated into the multiple sub-bands by horizontal QMF vertical QMF and time QMF. A block mapper part 20 maps the respective sub-bands by M*N-pieces of blocks. A band information extraction part 30 extracts sub-band information by the energy of the mapped signals and an active degree and detects filter bank selection information predicting the characteristic of the sub-band signal. A first memory 40 receives the input of selected information and outputs a signal for selecting the sub-band block signal. A multiplexer 50 selects and outputs the prescribed number of sub-band signals in the sub-band signals inputted from the block mapper part 20.
