PURPOSE:To provide a light modulation method and a light intensity modulator having a low driving voltage and a broad modulation band. CONSTITUTION:Input signal light is input from an optical fiber end 21 and output by about 50% from an optical fiber end 23. The signal light is transmitted via a lens 3 through a semiconductor light modulation element 1 and reflected at a high-reflectance surface 13; it is then transmitted through the semiconductor light modulation element 1 again, goes backward through an optical path and is output from an optical fiber end 22. A voltage corresponding to the information signal is applied to an information signal input terminal 11. |
