PURPOSE:To provide the liquid crystal panel which can minimize the generation of domain regions, has a preferential visual field direction in a 6 o'clock or 12 o'clock direction and has good image quality by setting the direction of liquid crystal molecules in specific directions with respect to both sides of square picture elements, combining a phase difference plate having positive refractive index anisotropy and a phase difference plate having negative refractive index anisotropy and disposing these phase difference plates between a liquid crystal cell and a polarizing plate. CONSTITUTION:The orientation direction 15 of the central liquid crystal molecules between both substrates is in an about 45 deg. direction with both sides of the square picture elements when prescribed rubbing direction is executed. An arrow 16 of solid line indicates the stretching direction of the phase difference plate of the positive refractive index anisotropy disposed on an upper side (signal electrode substrate side) and this arrow is disposed with 80 deg. deviation in a clockwise direction with respect to the rubbing direction 13 on the signal electrode 11 side. An arrow 17 of broken line indicates the stretching direction of the phase difference plate of the negative refractive index anisotropy disposed on a lower side (scanning electrode substrate side) and this arrow is disposed with 10 deg. deviation in a clockwise direction with respect to the rubbing direction 14 on the scanning electrode 12 side. The preferential visual field direction is rotated in such a manner and is set in the 6 o'clock or 12 o'clock direction. |
