PURPOSE: To provide a small-sized and easily operable base unit capable of coping with generation of a large quantity of a chip and constituting a two- spindle lathe with high accuracy. CONSTITUTION: This lathe has at least a base unit constituted of two beds 4, 7. The beds 4, 7 are cast as an integral unit from reaction resin concrete and carry a bed guide for tool support feed base 9 provided with a headstock 6 slidable in a spindle axis 10 direction and a rotary tool exchange 3. Each headstock 6 has an extension part 15 through a partition wall 16. A switching axis 11 of the rotary tool exchange 3 is arranged at a certain angle in the longitudinal direction of the bed guide. When a z-spindle lathe is constituted, the beds 4 of the headstock 6 are adhered each other over wide area and the beds 7 for tool support feed base 9 are arranged on the beds 4 at a right angle to the beds 4 in a mirror-inverted manner. |
