PURPOSE: To obtain a long life sensor structure, by placing the end parts of a cathode and an anode mutually facing in the coaxial line in a sensor equipped with a cathode and an anode dipped in an electrolyte in a closed chamber formed by oxygen permeable membrane. CONSTITUTION: This electrochemical sensor, used by a combination with a current sensing and measuring device for monitoring oxygen partial pressure in a patient's bloodstream, is made applicable for a catheter having diameter and length to be inserted into a vasculature of human or animal and equipped with a cathode 20 and anode 21 in a manner to be dipped in an electrolyte 17 in a closed chamber formed by oxigen permeable membrane 19. The cathode 20 is formed by the exposed end of an isolated silver wire 11. While, the anode 21 comprises an exposed end of an insulated silver or silver chloride wire 12 which is bent in a U shape 22 in the closed chamber and the end of the anode 21 is arranged in a manner opposing to the end of the cathode 20 on the coaxial line. |
