PURPOSE: To provide a method and device which can photograph the surface region to be examined by a color endoscope and a reference color image for each cavity in the color images of high fidelity or in the color display that is in accordance with a desired color standard. CONSTITUTION: The actual value of a standard color is compared with the target color value, which has been previously decided and stored under the illumination condition that is controlled, based on the standard color. Based on this comparison result, a color space conversion matrix is calculated to reconvert the actual color value into each target color value. Then each point of an image photographed by an endoscope 2 is converted again, based on the color space conversion matrix. Thus, a true color of high fidelity is secured. Furthermore, the image points which are reconverted are sorted in the prescribed color classes and learned by a sorting device, if as necessary. Then an image of a color class that enhances diagnostic effect is displayed. |
