LARGE VOLUME LOW-PRESSURE AIR SPRAY GUN

An improved HVLP spray gun (10) capable of operating from a source of high pressure air. Compressed air is delivered to the gun (10) through a relatively small diameter air hose (20). A pressure compensated control valve (23) is mounted in the spray gun (10) to reduce the air pressure delivered to an air/fluid nozzle (14) to a predetermined pressure of no greater than 0.7 Kg/cm<2> (10 psig). The control valve (23) maintains a constant air pressure at the nozzle (14) when either the atomisation air flow rate is changed and/or the fan air flow rate is changed or the pressure of the source air changes.
