Ionomer blend for thermoplastic metal coatings

Novel ionomer blend (B) contains I 20-60 wt.% of an ethylene-propylene rubber and II 40-80 wt.% of copolymer contg. 25-98.5 wt.% ethylene units and 1.5-30 wt.% carboxylic acid-contg. units, in which at least 10% of the carboxylic acid units are neutralised with metal ions.Blend also contains III up to 10 wt.% of a colouring material which is either carbon black or a pigment, plus IV a U.V. stabiliser. The compsn. may opt. contain an antioxidant. Ethylene is the predominant component in I.Pref. B contains 30-50 wt.% of ethylene-propylene rubber esp. a copolymer rubber which contains 60-80 wt.% ethylenic units. Pref. I is an EPDM rubber where the diene is 1,4-hexadiene. Pref.
