The door locking device is used in a vehicle. A U-shaped catch member (6) eg. on the door has a circular cross-section (8) and engages with a rotating catch member (4) in the locking mechanism in the door frame. This member is situated between two parallel stop members (1) in the door frame which have grooves (28) to accommodate the U-shaped catch. The end (18) of the catch member (4) has a re-entrant groove (15) which the catch (6) on the door can enter and is shaped so that the catch member may slide down it into the groove.
