The dental floss container (12) has a drive for the floss itself. The container has a fork (15, 16) at the top between the ends of which the floss (25) is stretched, wrapping around small pulleys and back to the drive unit. The drive unit consists of a disk (18) with an oscillatory movement, and the floss is held at two points of its circumference. The axis of the disk may be the longitudinal one (20) of the floss container, or at right angles to this axis. The plane of the disk is that of the fork arms. The components are all made from plastic. The disk is driven by an electric motor. ADVANTAGE - Inexpensive and simple design which is easy to handle, with simple fixing and tensioning of floss.
