PURPOSE:To improve sensitivity at the time of transfer and the hue and light fastness of an obtained image by making it possible to use a cation dye incapable of being used heretofore as an image forming material in a thermal transfer system. CONSTITUTION:The pair ion such as halogen of a hydrophilic cation dye is exchanged with an org. anion such as a sulfosuccinic acid anion, for example, a diethylhexylsulfosuccinic acid anion, an alkylbenzenesulfonic acid anion, for example, a dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid anion or an alkylsufuric acid anion, for example, a laurylsulfuric acid anion or a soap anion to make the cation dye hydrophobic. An ink layer 3 containing this cation dye made hydrophobia is laminated on a support 2 having a heat-resistant slip layer 1 to obtain a thermal transfer ink ribbon 10. |
