MANUFACTURE OF AIR BAG, FLAME RESISTANCE AND FIRE RESISTANCE OF WHICH HAVE BEEN IMPROVED

PURPOSE:To prevent breakage of an air bag itself due to a seam break in order to ensure further protection of occupants by improving a sewing thread for an air bag and thereby suppressing the effect of high-temperature expanded gas or flames on a sewn part at the time of expansion of the air bag over the sewing part. CONSTITUTION:In manufacturing an air bag by combining two or more ground fabrics and sewing them into a bag form, sewing threads are used which are treated in advance by an inorganic material having both flame resistance and fire resistance. Especially, an inorganic material, which contains crystal water as its component, is suitable because evaporating crystal water weakens the high temperature gas or flames at the time of expansion of the bag in addition to the fact that the inorganic material serves as a barrier against the flame or fire.
