Basic azo dyestuffs of the formula <IMAGE> in which R<1> denotes hydrogen, C1-C4-alkyl, C1-C4-alkoxy or C1-C4-alkanoylamino, R<2> denotes hydrogen, C1-C4-alkyl or C1-C4-alkoxy or a radical of the formula CO-X and X denotes hydroxyl, C1-C4-alkoxy, amino, C1-C6-mono- or dialkylamino or a radical of the formula <IMAGE> <IMAGE> or <IMAGE> in which n represents 0 or 1, R<3>, R<4> and R<5> represent hydrogen or optionally substituted C1-C4-alkyl, R<6> represents hydrogen or C1-C4-alkyl, L represents C2-C6-alkylene and An<(-)> represents the equivalent of an anion, with the proviso that at least one basic or quaternary radical is present in the molecule, and their use for dyeing or printing polymeric material.
