PURPOSE: To staple sheets in snugly superposed state without necessity of using an additional constituent within a small space. CONSTITUTION: The stapler 27 is movably provided at a non-operating position disposed separately from a holding tray 1 and an operating position for holding edges of a sheet bundle by a main structure of the stapler. A pressing surface 32 moving by pressing the stapled bundle on the tray held adjacently in the case of moving the stapler 27 to the operating position is provided on the stapler 27, and a distance from the structure of the stapler of the surface 32 is provided substantially at the same size as an effective size between adjacent holding trays. Thus, only a minimum number of components for stapling the aligned bundle positioned on the tray 1 is provided.
