The invention relates to a system of drainage chambers in a double-wire former. The double-wire former comprises a double-wire zone, in which a wire loading unit 23 has been arranged inside one wire loop 20. In the said unit there is a system of loading strips 26a, 26, 26b, which can most suitably be loaded with the pressure Pk of pressure media, and a system of drainage and guide strips 36a, 36b, 36c which function opposite the system of loading strips 26a, 26, 26b inside the second wire loop 10. In the former, inside the upper wire loop 10, there is a system of drainage chambers 15, which are connected to drainage channels 14a, 14b, 14c, 14d, by way of which the quantities of water coming from the web W can be removed through the upper wire 10 via the hollow spaces 36R of the strip system 36a, 36, 36b which act against the inner surface of the upper wire loop 10. The various compartments 15a, 15b, 15c, 15d in the system of drainage chambers 15 are interconnected to an intermediate drainage channel 15k or intermediate channels 15k, 15kk, by way of which the quantities of water coming from the strip sections 37a, 37b, 37c below the said compartments 15a, 15b, 15c, 15d are evened out. <IMAGE>
