TEMPERATURE CONTROL METHOD FOR ION EXCHANGE SEPARATION COLUMN

PURPOSE:To restrain the variation in temperature in the flow direction of a fluid in a separation column by causing a fluid of a specified temperature to flow against the flow direction of a fluid to be treated in a state of not coming into direct contact with the fluid to be treated. CONSTITUTION:A jacket 6 is arranged on the outer peripheral surface of a cylindrical column 1. A fluid B heated to the specified temperature by a heater 17 in a fluid tank 16 is fed from the lower end of the jacket 6 through a flow control valve 10 and a pressure control valve 15 and caused to flow in the jacket 6 against the flow direction of an eluent A to discharge it from a flow control valve 11. Then the fluid B flowing in the jacket 6 is given a temperature gradient at which its temperature is gradually increased by heat transfer caused by the flow as it goes upwards and heat transfer between the fluid B and the eluent. A flowing downwards through the tube wall of the column 1 is performed. Thus the temperature inside the column 1 in the longitudinal direction is kept nearly constant.
