PURPOSE: To detect fade in a digital moving video frame sequence. CONSTITUTION: A selection means 100 selects a first frame and a preceding frame as first and second areas for a processing from the sequence of the digital moving video frame. A calculation means 110 calculates the average value of the first area and a calculation means 120 calculates the average value of the second area. A means 130 for deciding a luminance difference calculates the relative average change of the average values. When the relative average change exceeds a first threshold which is previously set or when the relative average change is smaller than the first threshold which is previously set but it is larger than a second threshold which is previously set and the difference of the average values is larger than a third threshold which is previously set, a fade detector 150 detects fade. |
