Polyketone polymers I are prepared by contacting carbon monoxide and one or more olefinically unsaturated compounds with a catalyst solution emanating from a previous polymerization in which polymers II of specified physical properties were prepared by contacting carbon monoxide with ethene, and optionally one or more other alpha -olefins, with a catalyst solution in a diluent in which the polymers II are insoluble, and separating the formed polymers II from the polymerization mixture.
