The holder has one or more supports (1) with L-shaped support plates (5) at their bottom ends, the first flange engaging below the body of the instrument. The support is in top and bottom tube sections, the top one (6) being tapped for a screw (9) joining the sections together. The screw head (10) bears against the underside of the bottom section, the two telescoping together. The plate is of polyamide. Its second flange (4) has a tapped bore (14) for the external thread (12) on the bottom tube section (7). The screw (9) passes through the plate flange (3), its head being supported inside the plate. The support can be bent over at right angles at the top, where there is an external thread for engagement in the chin-holder. This end can be a separate component, screwing into the top tube section. ADVANTAGE - Greater strength and avoids damage to instrument.
