A suitcase weight (50) for use in forming a ballast assembly (40) for the front of an agricultural tractor is disclosed wherein the weight (50) has a body member including a rearward portion (51) adapted for support on a carrier (42) detachably connected to said tractor. Each individual weight (50) further has an upper and lower fastener opening (57, 58) forming a transversely extending passageway for the insertion of a fastener (68) from each side of the ballast assembly (40) for engagement with a fastener strip (65) inserted through flutes (63) formed in the body member and extending vertically from each of the fastener openings (57, 58). Each weight (50) is thicker at the forward end (54) than at the rearward end (51) to form an arcuate ballast assembly when the weights are clamped together. <IMAGE>
