PURPOSE:To provide a water-dilatable sponge having a water-dilation ratio in an ionic water such as seawater and cement water nearly equal to the ratio in city water, free from the dissolution of the component in water, resistant to the peeling and falling-off of the sponge even by pasting on a vertical face, etc., and giving little load on the application worker and to provide a process for producing the sponge. CONSTITUTION:The process for the production of the sponge is composed of a step to compound a synthetic rubber with a filler, a polyether polyol containing >=50wt.% of polyoxyethylene component, a polyisocyanate and a catalyst, a step to effect the crosslinking of the polyether polyol and the polyisocyanate under mixing and a step to mix the product of the former step with a crosslinking agent and a foaming agent and heat the mixture to effect the crosslinking and foaming of the composition. |
