The subject matter of the invention is a filtration device for separating solid material from liquid, which device comprises an outer casing 1, a pipe 2 connected thereto for feeding in the liquid, a filter 3 formed from rings and located inside the outer casing, between which rings there are gaps 4 widening outwards, through which the liquid is intended to flow, an outlet pipe 5 for removal of the liquid between the outer casing and the filter and a second drain pipe 6 for removal of the solid material from inside the filter. Current filter devices are complicated and are provided with separate cleaning devices. In a filter according to the invention the leading edges 7 of the rings, viewed in the direction of flow, extend further into the filter than the rear edges 8. <IMAGE>
