PURPOSE:To obtain a method for treating aromatic polyamide fiber and providing the aromatic polyamide fiber capable of preventing single filaments of aromatic polyamide fiber exposed to the belt end face in forming belts from fraying and improving the adhesion of the aromatic polyamide fiber to a matrix without deteriorating the fatigue resistance. CONSTITUTION:The method for treating aromatic polyamide fiber and improving the adhesion thereof is characterized by treating the aromatic polyamide fiber in a state of substantially no twist with a treating agent containing a polyepoxide compound having two or more epoxy groups, heat-treating the impregnated aromatic polyamide fiber at 150-260 deg.C for 30-210sec, then treating the heat-treated fiber with a treating agent containing a resorcin.formalin.rubber latex (RFL), subjecting the obtained fiber to twisting treatment within the range of l<=K<=5 [K is (TXD<1/2>) 2874; K is the twist coefficient; T is the number of twist expressed by turns/m; D is the denier] and further treating the twisted fiber with the RFL. |
