PURPOSE:To perform opening and closing of both doors having a recessed part and a protrusion part and to ensure operation to be engaged with the door, a device and a method for opening and closing the door of an automobile. CONSTITUTION:A wrist member 14 is arranged to the tip part of an arm swinging and driven in a horizontal plane and a proximity switch 17 to detect the inner surface of a door 8 is mounted on a case 15. A rod 18 is vertically rockably arranged in the case, and a member 19 engageable with a door groove 2a and an engaging member 20 engageable with the protrusion part of the door are attached to the tip part thereof. The door is opened and closed such that the inner surface of the door is detected by the proximity switch, the wrist member is operated, and the rod is rocked and driven downward in the position. |
