METHOD FOR COMPRESSING HINTING INFORMATION

PURPOSE:To compress file size by reducing the size of the hinting information. CONSTITUTION:An outline font file consists of (n) glyph data 1 and common data 2 including a subroutine for controlling outline points, and the glyph data consist of outline information and hinting information. The outline information consists of sequentially numbered outline points and their coordinate data and the hinting information consists of an instruction sequence (e.g. subroutine number, and a sequence of end point numbers of outline and its quantity passed to the subroutine) controlling the outline information.
