The locking device comprises a first, elastically deformable tab (11) attached to a plate (10) and forming an acute angle with the plate. An elastically deformable tongue (13) is fixed to one of the moving parts (1) and two other tabs (12) extending perpendicular to the plate in the same direction as the first tab. The two tabs are of a length that allows them to cooperate with the second moving part (2) during its displacement, deforming the tongue and the plate (10) attached to the first part and thus releasing the first tab from an opening (5) in the second part. USE/ADVANTAGE - Reliable operation of catch that is used to retain and release parts of light fitting.
