PURPOSE:To cope with high rotation of an internal combustion engine by increasing the natural frequency of the direct striking type valve system by the air pressure. CONSTITUTION:An enclosed chamber 4 is formed between a recessed wall 2 of a cylinder head 1 and a valve lifter 3, and a seal packing 14 which is extended from the outer circumferential edge of a retainer 8 and closely attached to the inner circumferential surface of the valve lifter 3 is provided on the retainer 8. The seal packing 14 is fixed by a fitting body 15 which is freely inserted into the outer circumferential edge and the lower surface of the retainer 8 from the lower-side, and mounted on the retainer 8 through the fitting body 15. An air passing hole 22 is provided in the valve lifter 3 between the inner top surface of the valve lifter and the upper surface of the retainer 8 and the seal packing 14. An air forced feeding source 13 is connected to the enclosed chamber 4 through a switching valve 11. The enclosed chamber 4 is communicated with the atmosphere when the internal combustion engine is running at low speed, while the enclosed chamber 4 is communicated with the air forced feeding source 13 when the engine is being high speed rotation. |
