<p>PURPOSE: To obtain a shaped article which has good dynamic characteristics, can be recycled and is useful as a soundproof material or a heat-insulating material, by adding an adhesive to a mixture of chopped mono-filaments with a fine fibrous web comprising the synthetic fibers of the same kind of polymer, and then molding the mixture. CONSTITUTION: This method for manufacturing a shaped article comprises mixing a fibrous material with 2-10 wt.%, preferably 3-5 wt.%, of the fine particular hot melt adhesive of a vinyl ester-vinyl monomer copolymer, charging the mixture into a prescribed mold and then treating the charged mixture under heating and pressurizing. The fibrous material is formed by blending the web of the shoddy and/or comminuted bonded fiber web of polyester fibers, especially polyethylene terephthalate fibers, having a linear density of 1-10 dTex, preferably 2-5 dTex, with the chopped monofilaments of the same kind of the polyester in free form and/or in the form of small pieces of fabric.</p> |
