<p>PURPOSE: To provide a method for effectively forming and griping a starting end of a web of a replacement roll generating at most one waste layer a low cost. CONSTITUTION: The method for forming and gripping a web beginning or replacement roll of the type for cutting an outer peripheral layer of the roll comprises the steps of mounting at least one suction ledge 7 parallel to an axis on an outer peripheral layer 5 of the roll 1, raising the layer 5 by using the suction ledge 7, cutting the layer 5 tensioned in this case near the ledge 7 at the suction ledge side, and raising it by using the ledge 7.</p> |
