摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent racing of engine speed when controlling a lock-up clutch (L/C) by holding L/C in a slipping state for a predetermined period of time when acceleration is initiated with L/C in its slip lock-up state and L/C is shut, the period of time being preset according to the degree of that acceleration. CONSTITUTION:The crankshaft of an engine 10 is connected to a driven part 16 via a torque converter 12 and a transmission 14, the torque convertor 12 having a lock-up mechanism 26 including L/C. The torque converter 12 is controlled by a torque converter control unit 32, to which outputs of a turbine sensor 28 and a vehicle speed sensor 30 and signals 34 indicating detection of engine speed Ne, throttle opening theta, the amount Qa of intake air and the like are input. For lock-up control, if acceleration is initiated with L/C in its slipping state (slip L/U state) between engagement and disengagement and L/C is then released, the greater the degree of acceleration, the longer the predetermined period of time during which L/C is held a state in which it slips more than in the slip L/C state, and then L/C is completely released.
