The duo-binary decoder for an MAC-format decoding system includes a comparator for comparing three-level duo-binary encoded data respectively with first and second reference levels and converting the data into two-level first and second data, a predecoder for logically combining the first and second data with a delayed predecoding data, a delay for delaying the output of the predecoder, an inverter for inverting the output of the delay, and a logic gate for exclusively OR-operating the output of the predecoder and the output of the inverter, thereby restoring the original signal.
