The noise reducing circuit for a subscriber line interface includes a hook-on detector for obtaining the absolute value of the current difference between output signals output by a subscriber telephone to telephone lines and detecting the hook on of the subscriber telephone with the magnitude of the absolute value, and a gain controller for controlling the amplified gain of a differential amplifier according to the output of the hook-on detector, thereby simplifying the configuration of circuit.
