A tubular air and water tight seal between the edges of an opening and a movable closing panel e.g. a car boot lid is made by extrusion of an elastomer or plastomer (1) tube profile with simultaneous extrusion of an internal spiral reinforcement (6) from the central part of the extrusion dia. The joint is shaped and vulcanised but will not deform when bent or after prolonged use. The reinforcement spiral (6) pitch is variable and is reduced at points of bending to give most support. Pref., the spiral reinforcement (6) is either solid or hollow and the pitch is controlled by extrusion speed. The tube is thinner than traditional seals. The joint tube is sealed except for connection to a system eg. a cylinder or pump, that will cause interval press. and inflation on closing the door and suction and deflation on opening the door.
