<p>PURPOSE: To reduce the possibility of damage due to electrostatic discharging between electrodes by providing a switching unit. CONSTITUTION: This device is equipped with an electrooptic display medium 4 between two support plates 2 and 3, a series of pixels formed by arranging respective pixels 12 consisting of image electrodes 6 and 7 arranged on the opposite surfaces of those support plates in rows and columns, and series of row and column electrodes 11a-11c, and 8a-8c which supply a select signal and a data signal, the image electrodes 6 on one support plate are connected electrically to a 1st nonlinear symmetric dipole switching unit 9 between the column electrodes 8 for the data signal and their image electrodes 6, and additional nearly symmetric dipole switching units 16, 13, and 24 are provided between row electrodes or column electrodes, or row and column electrodes, or between their combinations.</p> |
