<p>PURPOSE:To automatically vary the frequency of an operation clock signal and alter the pin arrangement of some signals according to the kind of a CPU in use. CONSTITUTION:A PROM 2 is provided with a table which previously contains information regarding characteristics of various CPUs corresponding to recognition codes set for the CPUs. Once the power source is turned ON, the recognition code of a CPU mounted in a CPU socket 1 is detected, the table is refered to, and characteristic information is read out. According to the characteristic information, a programmable clock generator 4 varies the frequency of the operation clock signal CK to the optimum value of the CPU and a programmable pin arrangement adjusting circuit 5 adjust the pin arrangement to correct arrangement.</p> |
