An electrical fuse unit comprises an insulating body 1 (Fig. 3) in which a fuse cartridge 2 is held between a screw cap 3 at one end and a base contact strip 5 the cartridge being supported along part of its axial length in an interchangeable metal fitting 17 of a size suitable for holding the cartridge used, the fitting 17 being supported in the body 1 along a plane lying outside the supported portion of the axial length of the cartridge. Cartridges of different capacities may be used in the fuse unit a suitably sized fitting 17 being used in each case. The cartridges may have a sand-filled ceramic body containing indicator and fuse wires. Specification 1,180,840 is referred to. |
