The device is formed from an inner ring (6), outer ring (7) and interposed crumple zone (8) all connected together eg by welding and made from ductile material. The ring device is fixed at a slight distance from the circumferential plane between the housing wall and the rotating parts. The device can be cast on the housing and additional supports can be attached to the device itself or to the housing. Side brake elements can be additionally fitted on the hub of the rotating parts. USE/ADVANTAGE - The parts of the turbine which may become fractured through centrifugal forces cannot penetrate through the housing to cause damage.
