The invention concerns a flat knitting machine with at least one yarn feed box (1) with a yarn guide which can be pivoted in the longitudinal axis of the knitting machine out of its working position and which has a guide arm (9) and a small pulley (10). The pivot angle of the guide arm (9) is particularly large and the force necessary to pivot the guide arm (9) is particularly small when mobile elements (4, 5, 8) in the yarn feed box (1) are connected to each other to form a parallelogram linkage and when the guide arm (9) is pivoted by changing the angle of the parallelogram. In a preferred embodiment, a cam (2) is fitted which controls the motion of the mobile elements (4, 5, 8).
