A dispensing cartridge which is particularly, although not exclusively, useful as a toner dispensing cartridge for an electrophotographic copying machine, comprises a housing having an exit aperture 16 for allowing material to be dispensed into a receiver 13 during a dispensing operation. The dispensing cartridge 2 is provided with a resilient device 1 adapted to change shape within the cartridge during the dispensing operation for facilitating the dispensing of the material through the aperture 16 into the receiver 13. The device maybe a structure having a curved central portion 3 fixed to the inside wall of the housing, the remainder of the structure defining two flat side flaps 5, one on each side of the curved portion 3, the flaps 5 being designed to bend and hug the inner surface of the housing as material is poured into the cartridge 2 through a filling hole (7, Figure 1a), and are free to move and straighten out as the material is released from the cartridge 2 into the receiver 13. Alternatively, the device may be V-shaped (5c, Figure 3a). Foam material (15, Figure 4a) or a spring may be placed between the device and an inner tube 6 positioned within an outer tube 8, the tubes being mounted for relative rotational movement so that the exit aperture 16 of the outer tube is only aligned with the port 14 of the inner tube when dispensing is required.
