The invention relates to a method for the production of rotationally symmetric bodies by atomising a metal melt, collecting the resulting metal droplets on a rotating surface, the surface being completely covered with metal droplets after one complete revolution, continuing to move the surface, while maintaining the rotation, out of the collecting position or plane of atomisation. In order to improve known methods in such a way that the body produced has as uniform a diameter as possible over its total length, it is proposed that the position of the plane of atomisation be determined continuously during the feed of metal droplets and the speed of movement of the surface and/or the mass flow of the metal droplets be controlled so that a predetermined ideal position of the plane of atomisation is maintained. ……
