The invention relates to a circular knitting machine for producing plush articles. The circular knitting machines contains a needle cylinder equipped with knitting needles, a sinker ring equipped with sinkers, the sinkers having specific edges for the treatment of a basic yarn and a plush yarn, and at least one knitting system (I, II). For the independent adjustment of the stitch size and the plush-yarn loops, a cylinder cam portion (7a, 7b) has an adjustable cam part (51, 62, 69, 72) which serves for adjusting the length of the plush-yarn loops. A likewise adjustable cam part independent of this serves for adjusting the stitch size. This cam part can be arranged either in the sinker cam or in the cylinder cam. <IMAGE>
