PURPOSE:To enhance extensibility and to improve an operating efficiency of an image forming apparatus by continuing a printing operation without stopping the apparatus if a record sheet corresponding to a print format during printing becomes vacant. CONSTITUTION:The image forming apparatus comprises a sheet supply cassette 117 and a sheet feed roll for conveying a record sheet for a portrait, a sheet supply cassette 118 and a sheet feed roll for conveying a record sheet for a landscape, a nonvolatile NVRAM 206 for setting an orientation of a portrait mode or a landscape motor, and a control circuit 501 for switching to an orientation of other record sheet when a record sheet of one of the cassettes 117/118 selected at the time of printing becomes vacant to continue a process. |
