Plant growing receptacle and method

A receptacle (10) allows planted pots to be placed above the ground (12) and anchored to the ground (12). The receptacle (10) is made to allow nesting of one receptacle inside another receptacle. The receptacle (10) has an open-topped cavity (32) in which the potted plant may be placed, still within its pot. Additionally, drainage materials (34) are placed in a lower part of the same cavity and the drainage materials serve to anchor the receptacle (10) to minimize the possibility that wind would blow over the plant. Further, the cavity has a floor (24) with a hole (26H) therein for receiving a stake so as to secure the receptacle to the ground. Additionally, a generally circular support flange (22) extends peripherally around the outside of the receptacle (10) in order to provide greater stability. The receptacle has a conical inner wall (16) which is narrower at its lower end and a conical outer wall (20) which is wider at its lower end.
