PURPOSE:To obtain a water-base adhesive which has excellent storage stability and long pot life and is suitable for a composite flexible hose for transporting a cooling medium. CONSTITUTION:A water-base adhesive is a water-base mixture contg. a water- dispersible resol phneol resin obtd. from a phenol and formaldehyde in a molar ratio of the resin to the aldehyde of (1:0.5)-(1:3) and a butyl rubber latex in a dry wt. ratio of the resin to the latex of (5:95)-(40:60). The adhesive is used for making a composite flexible hose comprising an inner tube 1, an adhesive layer 2, an intermediate rubber layer 3, a fibrous reinforcement layer 4, and an outer rubber layer 5. The adhesive has a long pot life, is excellent in workability and applicability in a uniform thickness, and gives a hose excellent in durability and flexibility. |
