The tunnel is internally covered with a ring (5) formed from prefabricated reinforced concrete voussoirs supporting a floor (4). In the lower part, up to the level of the floor, the voussoirs (6,7A,7B) are connected together through sealing joints (21). Above the floor the voussoirs (7A,7B,8A,8B,9) are connected together without sealing joints. The lower part of each ring (5) comprises a struck off voussoir (6) and two running voussoirs (7A,7B) adjacent to it. In the rectilinear sections of the tunnel each ring (5) has two parallel end faces. Each type of voussoir (6,7A,7B,8A,8B,9) possesses a fixed angular position relative to the other, the joint planes being axially aligned. ADVANTAGE - Economic tunnel construction.
