PURPOSE:To prevent a quench front being induced to normal superconducting coils by a method wherein a liquid helium supply pipe is provided with stop valves, a liquid helium replenishment pipe is provided with a replenishment reservoir and stop valves and a gaseous helium recovery pipe is provided with a gas exhaust tube, which is branched from this gas helium recovery pipe and is provided with an exhaust valve, in each superconducting coil. CONSTITUTION:When one superconducting coil 2 is quenched, liquid helium supply stop valves 9 of a liquid helium supply pipeline 4 for supplying liquid helium front a liquid helium reservoir 3 and liquid helium replenishment stop valves 11 of a liquid helium replenishment pipeline 6 for replenishing the liquid helium from the reservoir 3 are stopped and moreover, stop valves 10 of a gas helium recovery pipeline 5 for recovering evaporated gaseous helium are stopped and the quenched coil 2 is separated from the reservoir 3. By this disposal, a remarkable wastage of the liquid helium due to the quench of the coil 2 is inhibited and the quench is prevented front being induced to other normal superconducting coils 2. Moreover, liquid helium in a liquid helium auxiliary reservoir 12 arranged over the quenched coil 2 is replenished to the quenched coil 2 and the coil 2 can be prevented front being burned by the generation of heat due to the quench of the coil 2. |
