The entire fan unit (9) comprising electric motor (13), fan (19), radial support frame and outer duct (21) is fitted as one unit to a cowl (5) behind the radiator. The unit has locating flanges which clip fasten it to the cowl, with a threaded fastener to secure the fitting. The outer duct of the unit has a radial flange (29) which is slid radially into a groove covering part of the circumference of the cowl. A tag (47) on the opposite side of the flange locates the threaded fastener (49) to secure the mounting. The outer duct and the radial support frame are made in one unit as a moulding or casting. ADVANTAGE - Simple to replace fan unit. No special alignment required. Coolant system does not have to be drained to change fan.
